Heh, 33. Looks like I close on a house monday and I've had the same job for seven years. I guess this is what grown up looks like.

So hey! What goes on with you? Are you healed up? Did you ever get any of those motorcycles on the road?

I'm headed to the Seattle-Tacoma area. I lived in CO for a couple years and my family has a cabin here. The suck that is I25 - I'm very familiar with that. The mess down in Trinidad was new to me though. That one-lane snake was probably the toughest part of the trip. The narrow lane combined with the reversing curve made for a very interesting time.

Rather than take I25 up and then turn west in Wyoming, I'm going to take 70W through Utah. It means going through the Eisenhower tunnel, but that is the only wet section per the CDOT page last night. It looks like they got a bit of overnight snow in the Vail/Loveland pass, but I'll be hitting it later in the day. The road conditions in Wyoming look quite a bit worse. The famous Wyoming winds are also something I'd like to avoid.

Fun!

Finally, for the first time in oh, about 8 months things are starting to happen. Maybe gonna buy a house for reals this time, and the scourge of my life, the credit card bills are gonna go away. FOREVER! Headed out to podunk for the next few days to see grandma and give mom a little moral support, She's about worn out but soon grandma...

And guitars.

I threw myself a small party when I retired the last of the CC bills. Being totally debt-free is wonderful!

Anybody want to come clean my house for me? Yeah didn't think so. The last month has been nuts, been out to california, completly emptied grandma's house out and back in three days, spent a week in podunk with family and the gang, and worked five days worth of overtime. plus i've been trying to get my crap squared away for my impending house purchase....

Ok, I'm finally back to work. Back on the same job with the crazy old jehovah's witness elder. Now I just need to get a couple of good paychecks and settle with the company over my injury and I should be able to get a place of my own finally.

This will be my 14th knee surgery. I'm just so glad it's not a long-term thing. What surgery did you have?
guitargeek:
So then what happened?

Ok, what's new? I can walk with a cane now, and a little without. Haven't put the brace on for four or five days, still can't do much below knee level but I did get the ok for the exercise bike today. I've managed to not gain a ton of weight but it is getting harder to stay on the diet. I hate eating like...

Thanks for the tips. I'm 6ft and my dad and brother are both 6ft2in+. I've heard some of the horror stories about the E4OD/4R100, but I really want to stay with any automatic. I prefer a standard in a sports car, but an automatic in a truck. I've driven both and much prefer the auto. I'll be budgeting for a highly overbuilt heavy-duty replacement trans in the mid-term.

Glad to hear you're up and around again. I'll be getting a full knee rebuild at some point. I'm definitely not looking forward to it.

Headache Rack - defnitely! It also give me something to mount ham radio antennas on.

Toolbox - I'm thinking of a box that combines with an auxiliary fuel tank. I'd like to be able to carry 50-90 gallons of extra fuel.

Bed rail protectors - Yep!

The side boxes are tempting. I'm doing some digging to figure out what I can do that won't compromise the ability to haul 4x8 sheets and 8ft stock. Given that I won't be doing it daily, I don't mind doing it with the tailgate down. If I could find side boxes with an aux-tank at the back end that would be a winner. The other possibility is to go with a larger under-body main tank and/or relocate the spare tire and drop a tank from an Excursion in its place as an aux-tank.

Of course gauges, intake, exhaust, and chip are high on the list. Any truck I drive has to be capable of shaming ricers. smile

Go into the doc's today for the big visit. See when I start rehab and see if I can browbeat him into letting me drive again. I'm not taking any drugs, not even tylenol so he can;t use that on me and I can brake with my fucking left foot just fine. I'm gonna go nuts if I don't start getting out of the house...

Right now is when you need to be in the garage, turning wrenches on one of those bikes! That way, you might have one up and running by the time you're up and running...

I've never used WMP much, I've always been a WinAmp guy. The Rio Nitrus MP3 player used Rio Music Manager, which I liked very well. Media Monkey is another good one...

Luckily the Kaizan event isn't looking at any part of the department I do, so I'm not too worried about working harder. And hey, if I'm really lucky I'll be one of the people not being replaced soon enough.

It's been over a week since the surgery and I am off of the strong drugs. Narcotics fucking suck and If I am never in so much pain that I need them again that would be fucking peachy to me. I'm doing better, even did a flight of stairs today, those suck and since my right leg is in an immobilizer I have to back...

You never realize how well liked you are until someting happens to you. Last sunday I fell and tore the tendons in my right knee and except for surgery on tuesday i've been bedridden. The guys at the shop took up a collection and the guys not only sent me a couple of hundred bucks they also put a new water pump in my car,...

Oh shit!

So they took up a collection... that's very nice of them, but I figured you had pretty good insurance and all that, seeing as how you fix trains for a living. You know... union work, good pay & benefits, yadda yadda...

Anyhoohaw, man, this downtime might be a good opportunity to get one of those motorcycles running! Maybe you can't ride it for a while, but you could work on it...

Yeah, maybe next weekend I'll be able to stump out to the garage. one thing is for sure, the drugs give me the kind of focus and patience that I've never had. It's hard to get frustrated when you are stoned. thank god for it though, I'm out of new books and tv sucks so incredibly bad that I do not understand how it survives as a viable medium. at least this way I can drool at the boob tube and not lose my mind.

Sorry to have ignored you all for the last bit. I dunno how much I will be able to be on for a while. I managed to tear the tendons in my knee resulting in surgery. As a result of this I have spent a week in a haze. I'm gonna be ok but not very communicative for the next month or so since I...

Been very busy since I got back from Abuelita's funeral. Overtime has been insane at the railroad and People are losing their houses at a terrifying rate. This morning I have the joy of pumping about five or six inches of water out of a basement. Stinky water at that. I really need to go fishing.
