oh how I love communication at my job....Sunday night was just another wonderful example!
i work overnights 2 nights a week (I'm the part-time overnight cashier). right now the full-time overnight cashier and myself don't talk much. why? he's a prick basically. the night crew has told me (this is from the chief and assistant chief) that he tells everyone I do no work and do not rotate things properly. he also told the overnight crew chief he can not trust me to do any work but put out the candy if he orders for nights I work, that is why he won't order anything for the nights I work. mind you, I trained him on overnights, and the previous full-time overnight cashier (who took a different position in our store) told the front-end manager (at the time) I could train the new full-time overnight cashier. I could add more, but, well, the fact that most people that have worked with this full-time overnight cashier dislike him (and wish he was gone) should say quite a bit...and this includes people who don't get upset at virtually anyone. even if you try to piss this person off, you can't...and he has.
add to that how our schedule works and you will know why I am so happy. our schedule is written on a weekly basis at work, and posted on a Sunday through Sunday basis. so last week, the schedule was posted for Sunday the 14th through Sunday the 21st. I was scheduled to work overnight on Sunday the 21st (yesterday), as is normal (since I have worked that shift for about a year or more now).
and then I get into work last night and look at the schedule for the week...and I'm not scheduled. huh? so last week's schedule has me working, but this week's schedule does not. the full-time overnight cashier shows up, and says he asked for time off later this week (and since I am the only other person trained, I get to work those 4 nights straight) about a month ago. nice of him to tell me...or for someone in management to let me know (or even better, when writing the schedule, to have written things correctly).
so basically I got to drive about 20 to 25 minutes to work, buy a few snacks, and drive back. and since the shift is 11:30 PM to 8:00 AM, also mess up my sleep schedule for the day. and for a lack of communication.
oh well....me wonders if the full-time overnight cashier had to get time off for an ultrasound or something. rumor is he got a married co-worker pregnant....and if his wife finds out, I think he's screwed (since, let's see....at least 15 years of marriage and 3 kids together...)
oh how I need to leave this place! and maybe, just maybe....management get a clue!
