well, for the few of you keeping up, here's the latest on my car:
last night, filled the transmission up with fluid. no noticeable leaks.
drove it to work (20 minute to 30 hour drive). mostly highway driving, some hills. no problems shifting gears (up or down).
before I left work this morning, checked the levels, still good.
drove home, again, no problems with shifting.
went to the store, we're still good!
checked the levels again (with the engine warm this time), and we're good!
so, overall, it looks like everything is good. I poured the old transmission fluid into bottles (that were formally used as 500 ml bottles of Daisani water)....I filled up 2 bottles. so that's about 2 pints. and since I poured in about 1/2 a quart, I think that measures up pretty good. so now I have to dispose of the old transmission fluid properly.
and weekly, check my fluid levels. if the levels start to decline rapidly, I know something is wrong. otherwise, it should be good!
yay me!
so out of all this....I have a new found sense of respect for auto mechanics! damn that is tough work!
so now if I can only get a job...1 1/2 weeks since I sent everything into St. Joseph's Villa and still nothing!
