well, I just finished four days straight on overnight shifts. while sometimes fun (and posting some outrageous numbers...more on this later), fours days is enough. time for sleep and watch some Eureka tonight and visit all my peeps that I haven't "talked to" in over 4 days in chat! seriously!
so what has been fun? well, last night, a girl came in with a friend (who was not drinking and the designated driver) celebrating her 21st. and pretty sober. well, she was of a darker complexion (perhaps Hispanic) from Florida....some observations....
1. it was cold for her. seriously cold! she could have poked someone's eye out with how hard her nipples were.
2. a girl of a darker complexion wearing a white top and no bra underneath.....yeah, could see the outline of her aureoles.
it was definitely a sight. and she was pretty nice. thankfully, for her first beer purchase, it was NOT Keystone Ice or Keystone Light! thankfully.
so the "numbers" I was putting up. at Wegmans, one key element that is tracked for cashiers is how many items, on average, you scan per minute (or IPM's). between orders, cashiers can "secure" their register (basically, to do anything, you need to enter a 3 to 4 digit passcode, much like a PIN, to unsecure the register) so the time between customers does not count against you for figuring out the IPM's. as a company, the preference is for cashiers to be around 16 IPM's. Sunday, I was around 32 (about 10 higher than the 2nd highest person). Sunday night into Monday, I was at 40. today, I think I was around 42 IPM's.
and now, the nice part is a new contest going on, where the cashiers are tracked for both IPM's and improved IPM scores. its based on the weekly scores. and since there are 4 STL's, and each cashier is assigned to one STL, there are four teams in this contest as well as individual. my team has the 2 highest cashiers (me and another girl now), and right now, I'm the highest.
so I want to know what damn weekly prize I win! and if I keep these numbers up, I could get most improved as well.
so what does this contest mean for me? the opportunity to win some prizes....hopefully not cheesy. and I can work with some of the newer cashiers, helping them along as well. there are a few that will listen. and I would love to get those cashiers in the "Most Improved" top 3.
so yeah, still job searching. sent out everything to York yesterday. one thing I do is use Southworth Resume paper, folders, and envelopes. so instead of sending my resume and such in a letter size enveloped, it comes in a 9x12 envelope inside a folder where everything is nice, neat, flat, and (IMHO) very professional looking.
so now if I can get a damn job!
so how is everyone else doing?

we have missed you in chat! I hope you hear something from this school. I applied to a couple more today, but they still haven't hired for the other positions I applied for.
