mental note don't blog when you have no sleep....it sounds bitchy.
so i got "the letter" today from Rush-Henrietta. its a funny form letter...here's why:
phrases like "many highly qualified candidates applied" when in fact the position might have been posted in the Rush-Henrietta Penny Saver only.
the signature.....it looks like someone blew up the person's jpeg image of a signature....badly. yes, highly pixelated. seriously obvious that he signed NOTHING.
so the letter is in the garbage. debating what to do. one of the hard parts is the fact that the County Legislator proposed a cut to school budgets from the County. schools got up in arms. so schools have cut back on things. and guess what....school counselors are considered "luxury" at times like this. sure, we write the schedule, get kids in the right classes, make sure they are on target to graduate, and are the ones to help a kid deal with something so they can learn. but we're a "luxury".
so I'm wondering how much schools cut back on counselors...after all, if you can just up the amount of kids by 100 on each counselor....hey, you can cut one or two positions! 300 to 400 students isn't too much, right? even though the American School Counseling Association recommends 200 to 250 students per counselor. instead of failing, the counselor will simply work 10 hour days (or longer), foregoing breaks and lunches, to get things done. so the following year, schools will go "You did fine last year, why do you need someone else?"
yeah, maybe I chose the wrong field...but yet it feels so right. go figure!

That really sucks. I still haven't heard anything back, but I did find 3 new jobs to apply for today, so we will see.
