well, as of Tuesday, no phone call. so I'm guessing the job I did good on the interview with (hey, when you're asked questions like why you are interested in advising certain groups, compare the 2 Masters degree programs you've been in, and what 2 different programs you've used are like), one would think that things went well. yet here I sit.
oh well...there are still a few jobs out there that are still posted (like 2) that I have heard nothing from. one I'm not as keen on (its a good hour and 15 minutes away!), the other could be okay. but here I sit waiting with my fingers crossed.
and now unhappy part, so you are warned, I'm ranting and you might want to stop reading!
yeah, people tell me not to give up hope. one of the tough parts is the fact that teaches are considered "vital" to schools while counselors are not. so if there is need for more teachers, the school hires. however, if there is a need for more counselors, the counselors are expected to pick up the slack. seriously.
and my mom keeps going "A friend's daughter substitute taught for three years before she got a job...don't worry, it will take time!" hey, do people realize that the only time there is a substitute counselor is if there is an extended leave? like 3 months or so? a counselor misses a day, no one is called in. so this entire "substitute" stuff...yeah, it doesn't work that way for counselors.
plus bills are mounting up. hours are down at work. seriously, it sucks.
even have things where (my mistake), I give my mom a $60 gift card for shopping, I'm supposed to do $50. she spent it all. and then is starting the "what about this week?" I tell her "Hey, the agreement was every OTHER week, right?" she goes "What, you only live here every other week?" guess she hates the idea of actually using the money my step-father (who she bitches about all the time) gives her to shop for groceries on something besides her bills.
so now the debate...do I start looking at Res Life (a field I was in, and all the good jobs are gone) for a year? that way, earn some money and pay some bills down, so next year I can afford to move? or look at St. Joseph's Villa? its around the corner and I can get more money than Wegmans. however, to get paid really anything over $10 an hour, I need to move up.
ahh, this really sucks. seriously, 2 Masters and no job. and struggling to find something. seriously, what a crappy place to be in! jobs are disappearing, and I'm guessing that while teaching jobs might open up, counselor jobs will not. simply put, in schools, counselors are not valued. No Child Left Behind is what schools go by.....400+ pages of legal writing. and not one mention of counselors.
well, that's the end of the rant. fueled by late night of no sleep. here's hoping I might be able to replace this with something better soon!
I so need a vacation in my life!
ADDENDUM:
so here's the word on my car....some wiring problems and a range sensor (covered).
HOWEVER, the transmission side cover is rusted pretty badly, so that needs to be replaced ($110). that's going to wait (that's what the dealership wants)....I might see if I can get a better price somewhere else!
