well, my car is back from the shop. new rear brakes and brake hardware (the parking brake). it cost me close to $485! over half of that is labor! do I really think that the guys working on my car got the entire labor as part of their pay? over $250 for less than 3 hours of work? I don't think so!
but its back. hopefully no more problems. although the A/C that I had recharged last year isn't blowing like it should. me thinks that, when I get the $20 together (soon), I get an A/C check by the dealership. and when they tell me there is a problem (or better yet, if they say it needs a recharge), I get to go "How long are re-charges good for?" if they tell me anything of a year or longer, then I get to ask "How long is the work good for?" if it matches...well, then I go "So I got the A/C recharged last year, around September, by you guys. what's up with that?"
yeah, bone me with this bill, I'll do what I can to get a free charge from them. bastards!
so now all i have to do is get my car inspected....next week, at a cost of about $21. I know the brakes and wipers should pass...they're new within the past 3000 miles or so!
so yeah, there's that. I also have the job interview....please please please! positive thoughts my way on Tuesday at noon! in fact, 11:50 AM (EST) to 1:30 PM EST would be nice! please please!
I do want the job...I hear the district might be rough. well, its also a district where the science scores were low. the science department in the High School was bad. the fix? overhaul time....
1. fire all the science teachers.
2. hire a teacher from another school district (who was a Science head Teacher, basically the head of the Science department) to come in as a part-time science teacher/part-time science teacher coach.
3. hire a new department. and the science teacher coach gets to help the new teachers learn how to do their job in a way that the scores are good and the science department is good.
interesting way to deal with things, no? and it happened within a year!
ADDENDUM:
oh, and I have an interview at the Newark Central School District on Monday. two job openings and over $36,000 a year (at least for teachers with a Bachelors....so I should be higher, since you get more money for having a Masters and I have 2!). and one of the Principals, in response to numerous bomb threats being called in, responded by having all students stay after each time there was a bomb scare, to make up for lost time.....the threats ended within a week!
