another week, another grind. still kind of sore from Saturday. my cousin's wife (and one of only 5 family members I actually like on a consistent basis, with my cousin and their three sons) had her birthday/graduation party. so I got out of work, went home, slept for about 6 hours, woke up, showered, and went to the party. some of the younger children there challenged us "older" people to volleyball. that was fun! although playing volleyball in hot/humid weather is not fun. went home, another shower, and then worked overnight.
got home, slept for about 7 hours, and then woke up and went "Damn I'm sore!"
yeah, fun times!
so this week, work Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 AM (aka, early), Wednesday have a reception in the early evening (I have about $5 a week taken out of my paycheck and donated to the United Way, so Wegmans is having a reception for those who do donate), and the overnights. fun times!
still job searching...have 3 applications to get filled out by week's end. seriously, how do you answer the question "Why do you want this job?" besides "Well, I'm not keen on making so little money that I qualify for an Earned Income Credit," anyways? right?
and I think that's about it. hopefully re-do my webpages this week as well. and sleep. and lots of nice storms coming through!
and my front end manager...yeah, he's screwed. he's been letting the number of coordinators shrink down because we had too many. well, here's what's happening:
Coordinators that will/can close (old enough and competent enough):
Melissa B
Melissa F
Jessica
Meghan
Keith
Samantha
as of August, here's what we have:
Melissa B wants to move up and become an STL
Melissa F does not work during the school year, only during the summer break
Jessica should have a full-time teaching job
Meghan, Keith, and Samantha are moving to the new store.
this leaves:
Morgan, who's pregnant
Brittany, who will work when she wants to
Michelle, who is still in High school, so can't work past 10 PM probably...and not sure if she can actually do the closing shift (due to competency issues)
Mel, who just started and is young/not very confident
Alicia, who got her job by going to the Store Manager, and is not too competent period
so where does that leave him? well, I've made it known that I would like to be a Coordinator, but they (aka, managers) are worried about me leaving. hey, I get the job, I'll stay around, work at Wegmans 12 to 20 hours a week while school is in session...figure that's enough to cover gas and potentially food! and perhaps a few more people. or try to bring people in.
some of the managers talk to me (see me as management), and I threw out a few names. one guy I think would be good, he's very relaxed, calm, and polite. some say "Yeah, but he's really quiet." well, an irate customer dealing with a relaxed, calm individual? I think that's a good thing.
so that's about it....how is your life going?
