hellstorm

yesterday, Rochester hit a heat wave, with the temperature in at least the high 80's if not 90's. I'm sitting at home, in the Central Air, when my cousin calls (the one who owns a comic book store). he tells me that his A/C broke and he needs me to cover the store while he gets a new one.

I show up (fan in tow), he goes to buy the new A/C unit. we take it out of the box to plug it in and test it. I notice 2 buttons on the plug, one labeled "reset" and the other labeled "test". we wonder, "Does the old unit have these buttons?"

yup, it does. I push "reset" and plug the old unit back in, and lo and behold, its running again! my cousin does the "Sonovabitch" look and we pack up the new unit so he can bring it back and get his money back.

while putting the new unit back, I find that the back has some very sharp, very close together "things" sticking out, as it cut my hand (18 little slices, I counted!) and finger (7 little slices).

yes, the pictures are somewhat blurry, but hey, I'm right handed, ever try taking a picture with your non-dominant hand? try it sometime!

so what is the moral of this story?

check everything out before taking action or buying a new A/C unit!
