Finally caught up (kinda) from the trip to Chicago; flying American must be a pretty good approximation of flying in a military transport: no food, no entertainment.

Luckily, Chicago welcomed us with open arms. It was a bit warm for our Northwest constitutions (mid-80s in April?!), but my sister's wedding was beautiful, my sister was beautiful, Piper was beautiful, the heavens opened and angels... okay,...

Every now and again I think about meeting new people, then I find the idea rubbish and wander off.

i just realized that I signed up to do portfolio reviews for an AIGA event the same day as my sister's wedding. This wouldn't have been a problem, since i'd be done with reviews by noon and my sister's wedding is at 6pm, if the wedding wasn't in Chicago. Damn. These events are the best ways to snag someone hot out of college for coffee-fetching......

Reasons why running your own studio is akin to bamboo being shoved under your fingernails, #18:

Just found out I made a $9,000 mistake on the project I was rushing to get out by the end of the year. The project that the client caused to be rushed into a desperately short window, which led to the proofing error because the client was on vacation...

I don't know how I missed noticing you till now. You'r name is fucking cool. The odl Gidzilla carton was great. Especially the "Godzilla Syndrome" aspect (How he sometimes is big nough to stand on the bottom of the ocean and be above water and and then immediately shrink and be proportional to the monster he's fighting)

No fire-quenching heroics this week; just a visit from a lovely London-based friend and her boy. Also, more client idiocy: why do they pay me so much just so they can fuck my shit up with their ill-advised, uninformed suggestions?

So I'm clicking away in my upstairs office as usual yesterday afternoon, when i notice a really loud crackling sound coming from my next-door neighbor's backyard. When I look out my window, i see a bunch of smoke coming from behind her house. My first thought was, "What the hell is Pat cooking?" (Pat being my 70-year-old grandmotherly neighbor, if your grandmother could swear like...

New Weding Present music!. David Gedge is one of my favorite musicians and all-around great guys of the past 15 years, so color me giddy. I'm just bummed that I missed him when he in town recording it. frown

In other news, heading down to the PDX today to talk with some guys about doing the design for their "urban assault" MTB DVD, which should...

okay, last chance: anyone want an '88 VW GTI 16v? It's cheap, and if no one wants it, it's being donated to some orphanage in Appalachia or a Little League team or something.

Is NOMS still chugging away up there?

I spent many a day bumming about QA... a nice little neighborhood. I used to ride my bike up 3rd on the North side, then go down QA Ave on the South side, then back up and over again...

...the things we do. confused

Damn, punt is seriously talented. Had a rad time last night with navin and mrs. navin watching him drum like a demon. His whole band was killer. Of course, any time the band has a trio of skate park kids watching the show through a window over the drummer's shoulder, it's a rad time. smile

Why are you stuck home?
punt:
that hat I bought is great. There was another one in brown I almost bought just because I was scared I'd never see one like it ever again. A backup would be killer....I figure someone will steal it eventually.
