Motherfucker. It looks like my Xbox 360 needs to go in for repairs, since it seems wireless controllers won't connect to it. This is extra annoying, because I just got Rock Band 2.

Well, you get to play Rock Band II, so you've got one up on me there.

It's cool, your team can keep taking the castoffs from my team year in and out. biggrin

Thank you for your comment on my member review set The Devil's Work! It's nice to know that people out there appreciate a little fucked-up fun for Halloween!

I have a Jeopardy audition in the morning! I'm too excited to sleep!

Update: I feel good about how I did on the test, but I wasn't asked to stay for the mock game and interviews. Still, a good time was had.
davidle1:
who is Alex Trabeck? Sorry I could not resist.
toothpickmoe:
That's awesome. Just to do the audition must've been a bit challenging.

Powell's is indeed worthy of a road trip, but I'd bet you'd get better pictures at Crater Lake. wink

The New York Times has a really interesting article on a biology teacher in Florida who helped write their newest science standards, which include the subject of evolution. As someone with two public school teachers in his family and a scientist myself, this article gives me a lot of hope for the future of science education in a nation that is becoming more and more...

We're gonna need a bigger stick.

Tempting, but it might just be more fun to watch him sputter and die out.

At least most people are ignoring Stockula's latest batch of monkeyshit.

This post is about Comic-Con. As such, it will likely be exceptionally nerdy. You have been warned.

Before I get too deep into my personal experience this year, I'd like to address some complaints I've been hearing about the convention this year. If you've read about this year's Comic-Con at all (and there's a decent chance you have, since it's been covered by a broad...

I'm going to be around less for the next few days, since I'll be busy nerding it up at Comic-Con.

Have you seen the Watchmen trailer yet?

That's a bold call and I'm inclined to mostly agree with you. I also think Katee will take it all the way. Final two will probably be her and Will.
toothpickmoe:
Yeah, I watched some of 300 last night just to remind myself what a visually stunning director Snyder can be.

Sadly, I think you're on target there. But I hope she gets over-confident like Kherington did and somehow screws up next week.

My fridge died. It will probably be fixed by the time I get home tomorrow, but the lost food is more than a little aggravating.

It's been a good week for me as far as the visual arts go, I think.

Exhibit A: WALL-E. If you haven't seen this film yet, stop reading this and go see it. You really owe it to yourself. Let's start with the obvious reasons: it's technically flawless, and entertaining as hell. It really has to be technically flawless, because so much of it is...

Dear stupid people on the internet,

Don't link to some stupid piece about how global warming doesn't exist and tell me to have an "open mind" when I read it. This isn't therapy, fuckers, this is science. We practice critical thinking and we bring our A games. We cite properly peer-reviewed research and we put error bars on our graphs. We know the difference between...

That sounds very much like the little village I first lived in when I was a child.
