I don't blame you for being scared. Needles terrify me, which is one reason I've never gotten a tattoo. If you've been to see them that many times, I suspect you'll be just fine, and it'll be well worth it when you're done. Unfortunately I'm not local or else I'd offer to go with you. I still hate getting tattooed and i used to get a bit worked up before the needle started. But i've got a lot better over time. Just relax as best you can, put some headphones on and listen to some sweet tunes.

I've already turned down a lot of offers that didn't seem right.
One guy wanted a nude shoot with a male model for $100 an hour.
I requested a portfolio and he said he doesn't have one, it's for his own personal collection and he will be the male model. I turned it down. I don't feel like taking pictures for his spank bank.
I also was offered $25 000 for a porn shoot, $30 000 if I will do anal.
No thank you. lol
