today i completely rebuilt the living room computer, messed around with the fresh freebsd install on my now dual-booting main box, and played some ffxi with dearest little (eight foot tall) Posh. i feel sufficiently geeky. my work here is done.
it's not actually done... i still have to poke around in the guts of this here computer and replace a nic that doesn't want to play nicely with bsd, as well as fiddle with an old pci gpu and see if i can run two monitors off my ge4 and ye olde hunk of pci crap. but all of that is for the morrow. right now i have pressing business to attend to - when someone stays up till quarter to five in the morning in their timezone just to talk to you, it's pretty much a given that you should lavish attention on them
