The Invasion Continues
I love weird coincidences. Here's one:
I bought the newly released "Collector's Edition" of the 1978 version of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" today and watched it right through last night.
It holds up very well. The acting, story, direction all hold up very well. Real tension builds and continues throughout the unfolding of the story. This is certainly a film to view if you have a good sound system attached to your DVD player. The sounds that permeate this film are eerie throughout. Fuckin' creepy! Decent extras too. The one on sound is especially relevant in regard to how music was used in the film to create sounds and atmosphere.
But also, I read this in some of the liner notes included as part of the DVDs packaging, just before viewing the film:
"During the production of 1978's Invasion, there was a panic from Sacramento to Morgan Hill over the appearance of "silvery threads" - thought to be evidence of a U.F.O. phenomenon known as "angel hair." The gossamer threads, however, turned out to be the offshoot webs of baby spiders, which were hatching by the billions after the end of a long drought."
Interesting enough, I suppose, right?
But then I read this in today's news: Spiders create giant web
Like I said...the invasion continues. Boo!
