I'm back in Chicago now; met my new roomates; they all seem pretty cool. I live with two other film majors (like me) and a recording arts major (at which I've a lot of expierence) Plus, two of them also play musical instruments. So, it looks like I should be able to get a long with them just fine.

Its so good to finally come...

This is un-fucking-belivable to me. Whats weirder, since I started the screenplay...well, our culture just kind of "fit itself" to it surreal Now's the oppurtunity for this to work...I've really got to commit eeek.
I need to make a list of priorities, and figure how I'm going to do this along side work and school.

I have that sense of urgencey, lately, you know? Like,...

Good luck with the film making. smile

Have you watched Ravenous again since the first time you saw it?

The first time I saw it i thought it sucked.
Then I watched it again, and loved every minute.
When everyone started eating each other that was neat.
I recall the big pot with a leg sticking out of it.

To the one true God above,
here is my prayer...

...there are two people here,
and I want you to kill them.

Her, she can go quietly,
from dieses or a blow...
...to the base of her neck,
where her necklaces close,...

It was a realization I guess. Here it is, the short version. I dated a girl for a long time and then got married. two years later we got a divorce, it was her idea. She wasn't happy. I thought it was something that I did. She was never really able to give me a straight forward answer. So, for Two years since my divorce I've been pissed off. I kept on thinking what it was that I did wrong. So the other day I was talking with my sister and I was having another depressing moment and she told me a conversation that she had with my ex wife. And my ex said "I'm just not interested anymore, no matter how hard I try, Nothing seems to change, and I can't help it. I just don't love him anymore." But I told my sister that there must have been something that I did to have caused it. But my sister said it didn't matter, that those things are small compared to loosing interest. All the sudden a light went on, and I came up with this clich here it goes...

You know when you were younger and you played with your G.I.Joes, and your Star Wars toys, and one day you pick them up and they just don't do it for you anymore. So you put them down, but then you pick them up again hoping that that passion and fun will return, but they don't. They don't entertain you like they used to, but you'll always have those memories, of the good times with those toys. In a way that is how my ex felt about me, and it wasn't me doing anything wrong really.

OK so that was pretty long, sorry, I hoped it helped

thanks for visiting my journal. I would like to return the compliment to you on your music taste. I'm too am a big fan of bop jazz, though those albums I own are sitting at my dad's house in Oregon while I'm away at grad school. What's happening these days in the D.C. music scene? I haven't heard much since Jawbox broke up.

The reality of the fact that that I've moved again finally dawned on me last night. When a structure is missing in my life, I'm scared out my wits eeek . I don't think that in every piece written about the negative aspects of the world, the author should have to offer a solution. That's not how artistic writing works. Writing is always talking about something the audience already knows, that's why people like it, because it talks about human experience and feeling.

I don't like the idea that one shouldn't write about scary aspects of the world without having some positive thing involved. There are things that happen in the world that are horrible and scary and are NEVER resolved. People should be able to write about these things.

I think you've got some great ideas about the nature of objectification and it's relation to an inability to connect on a real basis with someone...I guess what I wish is that I somehow had the power to show people that they do not need to seperate a woman's personhood from her looks in order to fantasize about her, that a woman's personhood is just as valuable as her looks.

So instead of "where does the picture stop and the subject start", I want those two things to be intertwined by nature.

I think I identify with music...not like, the lyrics of the music, the music in the music. Like, as I'm writing this I'm listening to Tortoise's Standards. It makes me feel really comfortable or something....even after I've analyzed for musical motion, chord progressions, recording techniques, song structure and all( robot ) I'm just still soothed by it. Their are several others:

John Coltrane, Autechre, Charlie...

I do feel sorry for people who think the only thing they have to offer is their sex. But that doesn't excuse USING a very real sexuality to sell make yourself seem more attractive to men. When women continue to perpetuate the idea that bisexual girls are bi for the pleasure of men and not "serious", they harm the queer rights movement. And I do not forgive them for that. I wish ALL women could seperate themselves from the idea that they are there for men's pleasure, though.
morgan:
The people on scripted TV shows are actresses...often the people on dating shows are wannabe actresses or models. So they either ARE actually okay with using their sexuality to please an asshole (for example being TOLD to make out by a guy on the show and doing it for him...when instead they should be punching him in the gut for being such an ass) or they are acting and are perfectly aware of the stereotypes they are using to make the show "interesting". And the producers are as much to blame, for exploiting a sexuality to sell their product.
