July 12: This scandal is simply amazing. As a journalist, I'm absolutely appalled by the actions of those publications, but what seriously puzzles me is how has she kept her job? Does she have dirt on the Murdoch family or something?

July 17: Well, so much for that. wink Rebekah Brooks resigned on Friday, and early this morning she was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to...

I dunno, but Rupert is looking really old these days. And yea, scandalous as it may be, does any of it really surprise you?
smile
wsoxfan:
Too bad it took so long for Murdoch to get his comeuppance. At 80 years of age, These scandals aren't going to impact on him too much.

Vancouver played poorly yesterday. It was painful to watch at times.
wsoxfan:
Just goes to show how people can get caught up in the fantasy and fanaticism of rooting for a sports team. If Cubs fans acted this way, the city of Chicago wouldn't exist.

Yeah, he needs to go. Now. I'm not a New Yorker, so I'm not from his district, but it's well past time he resigned. I don't want to hear that this Republican didn't resign, or that Republican didn't resign... this isn't about them. This is about Rep. Weiner and his issues. Resign, get some help, work on rebuilding your reputation and family... run again in...

Meh. Politically he's awesome. Watch some of his videos on Youtube. The man is a giant pain in the Republican's ass.
wsoxfan:
Too bad all of his dirty laundry is out there. When you break it down, everything he's done is virtual and total fantasy. Yes, he's foolish, but hasn't this been completely blown out of proportion?

I know we're in baseball season, and the NBA and Stanley Cup finals are just beginning... not to mention the NFL lockout. But, this little tidbit about Plaxico Burress sent shivers down my spine. As a Giants fan, if he ends up with the Eagles... I will go ballistic! Ugh.

You know Rex Ryan has already paid him a few conjugal visits.

I didn't realize he was out of jail. Be grateful you're not a Broncos fan. We have the Tebros.

I'm looking for some advice: How important is it to have a Twitter page for professional reasons? And, just how valuable is LinkedIn and Facebook? (I already have pages on both, but I'm not really up there too often). Basically, I'm wondering how much I should use them and whether they're worth it? Thanks.

A Twitter account would be great to announce stuff for your business. Like, "Today, we are having a sale on tuna." But if you wanted one as a doctor or lawyer, I would advise against it. I would say the same about Facebook. It is good to get news out about your business and advertise.

LinkedIn, I think, is way better way to network professionally, as all your connections are of the professional variety.
wsoxfan:
I'm sure all of those sites are great. I'm reluctant to get involved because I spend too much time online already, especially on FetLife. I'm constantly trying to connect with people and explore potential relationships.

Ever have one of those moments when you watch something, something that you stumble across while flipping around the dial, and you are completely blown away? I was not a fan of Lady Gaga's, but I watched most of her HBO concert special, and while I'm not about to run out and buy any of her CDs, I gotta tell you... I came away impressed....

I can't explain why I've never seen her perform. I'd like to correct that oversight.
wsoxfan:
I'll bet her live shows are what makes her singing more of an attraction. Kind of like Madonna, perhaps.

That doesn't suck.

I swear, if I hear another elected official, one with no true economic background, talk shit about fucking around with the national debt ceiling... I will hurt somebody. I'm not even laying blame at one party, it's both as far as I'm concerned. Ugh, I'm already sick of this shit, and these numbnuts talking about not raising it for political reasons are idiots. We're America......

my comment to my brother a few weeks ago was that the two parties are, "two sides of the same turd." i think its pretty eloquent, if i may say so, myself.

Following politics is like having a perpetual toothache. That's not close to my kind of pain.

Can someone tell me what the appeal is of all these "Real Housewives" shows? I mean, why do we celebrate ugly, ridiculous boorish behavior by a bunch of over privileged obnoxious people? I guess I'm showing my age - although many of these women are my age - but for the life of me, I can't understand why these shows are a hit? My girlfriend...

I really liked this ad from the Super Bowl.

The outcome of the game, not so much. But, you can't really be against the Packers winning it all. Unless if you're from Minnesota, Chicago or, yes, Detroit. wink
wsoxfan:
I don't really mind that the Packers won. It validates the Bears, as they had a shot to beat the Packers even with a third-string quarterback.

Fuck the Steelers. They knocked my Jets out.
