Well, it is now almost 3:00 am, and I just got home from my friend Holli's place in Dawsonville. Last night my cousin came over to spend the night, because her room was flooded and she needed to apologize to me for bitching at me on Thursday night. That's why I think she came over, anyways, because as soon as everyone else went to bed, that's the first thing she did.
Holli had left me a message last night but I didn't call her back because it was 12:30 when I noticed she'd called. This morning she called me again, so I figured something was up and called her back before I got ready for work.
I felt horrible. Her adorable, loving three-year old lab/pit bull mix Chevy was hit by a car and killed instantly last night. She and her husband live out in the country (Dawsonville) and let him out every night. He always comes back. Last night he didn't come back and they searched for him all around the neighborhood, but it was only after their neighbor said he had heard a thud that they suspected he had been hit by a car. They found him more than 10 feet from the road, without a scratch on him. The vets at my clinic think that the impact must have only damaged his spinal cord, which is rare but lucky for Holli since she didn't have to find him all mangled. The vet said it's unlikely that he suffered, thank goodness, but he was only three years old and Holli and her husband are beside themselves.
I went to go see her after work tonight, because I imagine when my dog dies I'm going to need someone to keep me distracted and just be there, but I know that nothing's going to make her feel better for a while. I wish I could help her.
Other than poor Chevy dying, I had a delicious weekend, with the little SG shindig and my friend Hector letting me stay at his beautiful old place by Piedmont Park. He took me to another party for a bit on Saturday night, which was nice because he only knows good people (I am convinced). I think he tried to kiss me, but I was drunk and he got my ear instead.
Better luck next time, Hector-san! I got homemade biscuits and scrambled eggs in the morning, and I got to sleep in a man's flannel pajamas. What is better than that? I so need a boyfriend, or a femme girlfriend that is into butch clothes.
Last night I read some of the fabulous Murakami that apologies loaned to me. Plus I got to go to Sabra's house and fall in love with all her dogs and cats that I get to sit while she's in Indiana for the holidays. They were all over me and we're going to have lots of fun while she's away. They're going to get all kinds of spoiled.
Stalker watch: Rob, the guy I met on a flight from Houston to Atlanta about six weeks ago, has now called me eight (8) times since Saturday.
What is up with him? Should I call him or keep ignoring his calls?
