"That's what a true friend would do."
I hate that statement. I've said it a billion times and I've heard it a billion times, and it's just irritating now...because most who say it, are just kidding themselves.
"A true friend would understand."
Oh yeah? So I'm supposed to sit around and wait for you to call me back. Then accept that you may have fell asleep or made other plans while you were in town...but not even get a courtesy phone call or email the day after, or the day after that, to say hey "This happened...You cool with that?" Yeah...I'm cool with it, but I'm not cool with the fact that you "don't have time" to call or email me and let me know what the fuck is going on...yet you have time to get on myspace and check your petty little friends list.
No what a true friend would do, is know the difference when their friend says they are changing and maturing, and actually doing it, or JUST saying it. Because as far as I can see, your words are a front. Your words thus week, have meant as much as giving a bum on the corner, and expired food coupon for Denny's.
I'm going through some shit right now, and I mean in no way to use that as a crutch, but you would think this "true friend" would understand, seeing as she/he is one of the only people I've chosen to be in contact with, for fear of being let down, hurt, or dragged into drama.
But as expected, this person shined through with their reputation as the flaky person they are.
I guess he was right. Some things just never change.
Actions really DO speak louder than words.
Fuck off....

similar shit has happened with me when it comes to my friends. I'll spare you my woe-is-me details...
true friends are a rare thing to be found these days. everybody refers to the "me" generation when referring to the 60's and 70's; we're in a new "me" generation. very few people care about more than themselves; inso far as they can't give a courtesy call. but don't let the majority get you down. there are still those out there who do give a damn....
i'm not sure i'm making sense, let alone making things better...i wish i knew what you wanted to hear...
