My bonehead streak came out tonight as I was coming home from class. I got out of the car to mail back two Netflix DVDs, and I locked the doors.
With the car running, keys taunting me in the ignition. Oh, brother. Murphy got me good, and this was in the same day I selflessly gave a homeless man a jar of pickles. No joke.
Luckily, the man who lived in the house that said mailbox is in front of was kind enough to grab two coat hangers, a windbreaker and an umbrella and brave the elements to help a complete stranger.
How cool.
We got the door open but it took a little while...and of course, it happened right after I got off the phone with Ford Roadside Assistance...
Now the quandary- even though he only wanted me to pass on the good deed, do I send him a fruit basket or something? Maybe just a card? I mean this guy was 60-something and stood with me in the pouring rain and helped me out...I have to do something for him right?
What do I do for him though...any ideas?

Later Edit:
I sent him a basket from Mallory's Marvelous Muffins. It was reasonably priced and I figure it says "thanks for jimmying my car door in the pouring rain even though I was a complete stranger". We'll see, hmm?

the unexpected kindness of strangers is always so heart-warming. perhaps i should start being unexpectedly kind to strangers just to make them feel better? but could that be interpreted as creepy at times?
hope you had a good weekend missy.
