*I'm in Sydney now. She gets out of hospital today. Crisis over, but there's still an underlying problem. But the worst is past. (Saturday morning Aussie time.)
---------------------------------------
Fuck.
I just got off the phone to my girlfriend, who lives in Sydney.
She just went to the doctor, her favourite doctor she hasn't seen for ages. About something trivial. The doctor said "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" and sat her down and took blood pressure and a blood test and told her that she was this *fingertips really close together* to dying. She'd had a blood test months ago but never returned to the doctor, thinking it was about something mild.
She must not die.
Other than that, things are fine.
---------------------------------------------
Update (Tuesday afternoon, Australia):
She is going into hospital. Her blood pressure is off the scale. I don't know what more tests and things are going to be done, but it's not looking too good. That said, she's still alive and isn't about to quit.
Could be better, could maybe be worse.
Thanks for your thoughts and kind words.
---------------------------------------------
Most Recent Update (Thursday morning, Australia):
She's in hospital, having a CAT scan. She has a cyst on her kidney, and this scan is to determine the nature of the cyst (whether it is the problem, a symptom of a problem, or what).
I'm flying up to Sydney tomorrow.
Thank you again for your thoughts, words and gestures.
