Further thoughts on this:

I was struck by how dynastic American post-war politics was. The Dulles brothers, lots of Roosevelts... It reinforces what I've heard about an American political class, in a very concrete way.

In other news, that will teach me to make remarks applauding the British climate... frown

Is it still like that? I mean, apart from the Bushes/Clintons. I don't really know.

Didn't really know anything about the Dulles brothers either until I just looked them up.

Yep, rich white tycoons have sons, sons go on to rule the Earth. The Bushes - I hope - are among the last of those dynasties.

haha, my buddy was just asking me last night how long it would take for Obama's tween daughters to run for office.

I think we kinda like royalty, but we want to get rid of them, too. *shrug*
