Wow. I finally got to see the relatives and now I never want to see them again. j/k. My cousin's wedding was pretty cool. It's still hard to see him as a man getting married and not the "roly poly" kid I looked after so many years ago. Nice girl and pretty cool family.
The two most memorable moments will be the scent of patchouli (and what it was masking) wisping by throughout the day as the hippie types mingled here and there and the guy playing banjo by himself in the middle of the night in the darkened downtown area. Great weather. It was a bit humid, but the warm breeze was quite refreshing. Everyone's addicted to air conditioning so indoors were a tad cool.
It was awesome seeing everyone on my mom's side of the family again. It was funny how they hounded me the whole time to a) move out East, closer to them and b) go back to school and finish my degree.
The flight was a pain in the butt. My luggage was lost on the way there. Luckily it was recovered by the end of the day. On the way back, however, it was delivered with a fine, fresh sea flavor. Apparently, someone was transporting fish and the lovely baggage handlers allowed it to thaw all over my bag. It was completely soaked in fish water.
Anyway, I'm home now. Back to unemployment and playing on the computer when I should be looking for a job. Now I'm curious to ask some of the bums at the freeway entrances how they got there. "Well, I lost my job, but I was in the middle of playing Diablo II and never found time to get a new job." Hmmm, interesting.
