It has been one year. That's a first for me.

I have been in a healthy relationship with a wonderful woman that has not shown any signs of slowing down. I don't know how to describe it other than I feel both blessed and lucky. My history of relationships has been both good and bad. However, I have never been able to make the magic one-year mark. In looking back over the year, I would have to say that the serenity prayer has really come in handy. It's the new hokey pokey. It's what it's all about:

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Think of it this way. The next time somebody says there is a 30% chance of rain means that there is actually a 70% chance of sunshine. If you are lucky and it's not a new moon period, there is a 70% chance of moonshine. Yee haw.
