Updates in point-form tonight cause it's different then my usual way of blogging
Uppers:
-Got into school for Photojournalism, fees paid and all. I start in Sept.
-Saw Xavier Rudd play live.
-Went to Jasper Photos here.
-Moved from Jasper ave to Whyte ave.
-New roommates are very cool.
-I'm apparently popular on Tumblr.
Downers:
-Got kicked out of my old apt, where I was living with someone I've known for 4 years.
-working too much and not making enough money.
So way more uppers then downers, in the pie chart of my life there's still lots of pie left to eat.
I'm working at a camera store, hell yeah discounts. This'll help with buying all the equipment I'm gonna need for school. But I'd be happier and be making more money if I was doing something outdoors. Que sera sera.
I love the mountains, I need to figure out how to make a living in the interior. Maybe after school I'll be able to find a paper that'll hire me to work for them, then after a couple years they promote me to a foreign correspondent position.
I'm very distraught about what happened during the G20 summit in Toronto, asides from the fact that I wasn't able to participate and document the protest, many of the reports I've read have reinforced my disgust with police, especially during times of crisis.

I really like Amy Miller, I think she does a great job and this story is disgusting. I shouldn't be surprised but I'll admit I was actually hoping that the msg we were getting from the politico class was true, despite knowing that the police had sound and water canons I was really hoping for....something better.

Ok so update time!
I'm in Edmonton Alberta now and have been for almost a month. I need to get out and meet more locals cause my roommate and I need our space. If you live in this town and feel like meeting an awesome cat let me know. I'm selling a lot of my camera gear, in anticipation of getting into school in september for photojournalism I need to upgrade which means spending money I do not have
In other news, I was really happy when I got here and the snow was melting, very cool... but I see now that it was all a lie! Enough of this 'we're Canadian we can handle the cold." Most of us live within 2 hours of the US border, and I want the summer. I've got credit with Air Canada and I think I'm gonna go somewhere south in august. like Mexico or something. Mexico in the dead of august sounds very attractive right now, I can imagine sitting on a patio of a cafe in some small Mexican town and just cooking in the heat.
Oh, also I'm now 25, my bday was on the 11th of March.
Till next time.
I'm going to make gluten free crepes, can you say yummmmm?
The best part though, is that they still haven't been able to ID the substance I was in possession of and so they withdrew the charge!!!!
So here's my first lesson of the year.
If you decide to use entheogens (drugs) and are foolish enough to keep them on your person, as opposed to maybe the LOCKED glove box of your car. Then make sure that the substance is exotic and rare enough (such as Dimethyltryptamine) that the lab the cops'll send it too won't have a clue wtf it is.
In other news, I might've found a job in Lac St-Jean for the summer, though it doesn't start till april/may so I still need to find something for the short term. And I'm applying to Loyalist College for a photojournalism program they have there and according to a number of people I've talked to in the 'industry' they've all recommended that (a) I don't go into it and (b) if I'm positive and passionate enough about doing it then loyalist is the place to go.
Cheers
If you haven't seen it I totally recommend you watch it, it has an incredible soundtrack, it's visually amazing and I think even though it's an older movie it is still relevant and applicable to many problems and dreams we're still grappling with.
I need to start finding a job. This one was supposed to last me till march but apparently the work orders will be finished by this week, and I won't make enough doing snow removal unless the weather makes a drastic change.
Quebec je t'aime mais svp stop sending french boys to hit on my gf ok? thanks ![]()
No matter who you are or how good or bad last year was I really hope 2010 is a better year for you

Montreal will have to wait a couple months, there's a courthouse in Newmarket that want's to hang out with me for awhile.
I need to find employment and an apartment quickly...yesterday kinda quick.
Good news: I saw a chiropractor today and now I don't crack as much when I move...yay! And also I get to spend some more time in T.O which is cool cause I did miss this city.
I also found a buyer for my camera...I am thinking about upgrading to a D300
Yesterday I was on my way to a meeting and a free brunch (yummy) it's be so nice lately and I've had a great time riding my bike all over the city without having to bundle up, but I'm getting off track.
So I was crossing a bridge and then hit a patch of sand, gravel and glass while trying to slow down. Dumb move and I bit it hard, and got some road rash on my shin and forearm and some gravel in my hands. Helmet on head + 1st aid kit in bag = smart move. So after cleaning myself up as best I could I called a friend in the area to come pick me up, while trying not to pass out I made a bet with myself that no one would stop and check on me.... I won
"So I walk with a limp like an old school pimp" hopefully by the weekend I'll be back in the saddle.
My last post was about recent travels, well my past few posts have been about that since I've been doing a fair bit of it lately, may c'est la vie. Alors aujourd'hui on va discuss plants, well my plants...
I watched a DOC once and creator said that he likes plants that talk to us. I've got to admit I feel the same way, human's have been using plants to communicate with spirits/another world for millennia, I don't see any reason why we should stop now.
Hawaiian Baby Woodrose
Kava
Morning Glory while I don't have any growing right now I did pick up a packet of seeds.
Peyote
San Pedro (psssst americans, this one's legal in most states)
I've tried growing mushrooms back in Toronto...they didn't work out, in fact the experiment was such a disappointment that I don't see myself trying them again for a while.
And well Cannabis is something that I'd really like to try growing but is unfortunately something that can't be done now. Maybe I'll have the chance to move to Holland for a bit sometime in the near future and will try it then...so many plans.
[/SPOILER]
The other hobby of mine that's occupying a lot of my time and money is my bike. No photos of it yet but soon I promise
It's going to get a new paint job, and some new wheels
It's from Calgary, I found it for sale at the bike co-op in the Eau-claire market. I think it might be the hottest thing to come out of that city, though Malloreigh makes it a real close tie. If only because there are a ton of things I can do to my bike which I could never to do her ![]()
There's not much love for Manitoba, no hate but most people don't care to come see for themselves how cool it can be.
So with a nod to Atlea for the idea.

Ruperts Land was the majority of what is now Canada. (the tiny orange bit in the purple was Manitoba.)
An Original Seperatist

Louis Riel, one of my favorite Canadians...though I'm not sure how he'd feel about me calling him that.

The execution of Thomas Scott

1950 the Red River flood, Winnipeg.

The Exchange reminds of me of London.
I like how untouristy it is here. I know it's much smaller then TO but I've got to say this city's growing on me and I won't be surprised if I miss it when I leave.
