Dmuff and I are getting our new couch today. We just need to figure out how to get it home. The furniture store is one mile away and not quite worth the $55 delivery fee. So, I'm going to pour a little amaretto in my coffee and sit here until we figure it out.

Oh, and I decided to take the Criminalist exam next Tuesday....

Thank you, everyone, for the advice with the job stuff. kiss

I got my first job offer on Friday! smile

Interestingly, it is for a job that I applied for even though I didn't think I was entirely qualified. It is at the same university as the research job, which is cool, but I really want the research job!

I asked them to give me a week...

I have a bit of a dilemma in my head right now.

If offerred, should I take a job in academics with a potential for getting into the PhD program at a later date or should I hold out for the crime lab job with the potential of getting to work at crime scenes?

The academic job is available now, but the crime lab job...

can't you take the academic job now and always switch when the crime scene job is more "real"?

I'm with Turbulence, go for the PhD and then ditch it if a better offer comes along. In my experience about a quarter of people drop out of a PhD for one reason or another (mostly cos it is a painful, life sucking beast).

It looks like I have a good shot at getting a job offer for both of the jobs that I interviewed for! After my interviews, both have asked me to provide references. If they didn't like me, they wouldn't ask, right??

So, I either need to quickly learn a lot about EH&S for laboratories or peptide synthesis. Both are in the same university, and both...

My marathon training program started its new season this weekend. After the crumby month I've had, it was fantastic to see all the familiar faces and welcome all the newcomers.

I'm going to be training with the advanced group this season. I'm really excited about that and think it will benefit me greatly.

Unfortunately, I can't run the LA marathon in May. I don't have...

I went swimming this morning. It was actually quite fun.

Then this evening, Dmuff and I ate turkey burgers and laughed nervously at the fact that we are going to a game show taping tomorrow. It was totally his idea. He's dorky like that. I heart him.

Now, I'm procrastinating. I'm so burned out and don't feel like working on my thesis.

Did I mention...

I'm up and running again. smile

I ran 16.5 miles at Griffith Park on Sunday, and although the hills were probably more than I was ready for, it made me feel a lot better about the upcoming marathon. My thighs are sore, but I'm hoping tonight's run will help dissipate that. I'll try to take it easy. It's hard not to do too much too soon...

This past President's Day, Dmuff and I decided to go out for coffee. It had been rainy, and on our way down the concrete stairs to our parking garage, I slipped and fell on my ass. blackeyed

It hurt so much that I actually thought I was going to throw up for a minute or two. Luckily, I didn't break anything, but it was a pretty...
