It's ON M.C. ! You picked the wrong girl...opened up a can of worms...let the genie out of the bottle! Now cats are flying out of bags and you haven't even hit the tip of the iceberg. It's out of my hands now and remember...you STARTED it. I'm just going to FINISH it. Over a long, pain-filled period of time. It's time to call on...

Operation 'Blow this Popsicle Stand' is in full swing and I am so deliriously happy to be moving to Reno. If for no other reason than that I have friends there and perhaps, more importantly, there are lots and lots of slot machines in Reno...and Reno 911 (fingers crossed I will meet the cast, especially if it requires stalking and night vision goggles).

Although I...

So, Sedussa, what's the plan with you and the Holy Father . . . how are the two of You going to Create a strip club that takes on the Orchid? You've got about two months, maybe three, before the trains hit the trench and the Men's Club reopens. . . .

Dearest Fucking Diary,

I wish to get a good nights sleep tonight. The spouse had to go back to San Jose - left last night to avoid driving in the blinding Sun - and I, pathetically, cannot sleep when he is not home. Stupid. I awoke in a heart pounding panic at 3 am from a horrible dream which parlayed into thinking that for sure...

Yah... Tucson's like that. I think a lot of people naively come here expecting great things, believing that is something other than it is. (I seem to recall people describing Tucson as "resonate" and the "Berkley of Arizona.) But it's a rough town; the people are taciturn and harsh. It is, I imagine, especially difficult for those from friendly, outgoing, liberal neighborhoods in big blue-state cities. Of course, once here, people just get stuck. (After earning shitty Tucson wages it's tough to move back to expensive places like the Bay Area, Seattle, Minneapolis, or New York.) It is a story almost akin to the Iowa farm girl who moves to LA to become a movie star, but ends up a bitter 38-year-old waitress at a Burbank diner. So, hey, youre not the only bitter Tucsonan. There are thousands of us. We just dont always know how to recognize each other.

Thanks for your comment - I needed the validation. I saw it for the first time today or I would have responded sooner. We've started the process of moving to Reno at the end of July as we have concluded that any future we can realistically expect to have in Tucson is not one we want to pursue any further. Additionally, we are without any friends or family here and it lonely and somewhat scary - however, it has allowed me to appreciate my in-laws as I never could before we lived in exile for these past 8 months. Clearly you have lived my experience as your description couldn't have been worded better. I initially thought that people in Tucson/Marana (Most of my bitterness is directed at the morons here in Morana) seemed nicer than those back in the bay area but I soon discovered that for most it was a facade, which I don't get. The principal, the receptionist and the after school program director at my daughter's school (Twin Peaks Elementary in Marana) have gone out of their way to be inhospitable, condescending and suspicious of me from the moment I attempted to enroll her in kindergarten. Had there actually been a justifiable reason behind they're actions, I could have accepted their behavoir but there wasn't - I provided all the necessary forms they requested including the ones they added on or made up to delay the process further. Additionally I have been pulled over 4 times by law enforcement and let go, never understanding why I was targeted except maybe because my plates are from California. I am now afraid to drive here. Is this normal??? If I sound all 'poor me' it's not my intention to wallow, I am just confused and wondered if it was just me or is this the usual manner in which all new comers are welcomed in Tucson?

Normally I would categorize 'journaling' as a Punchable Offense but I guess this can be the rare exception. Deciding what constitutes a Punchable Offense is my new hobby. I find it occupies the mind while sitting in traffic and learning to cope with these awful Tucson drivers. I really like this town but apparently they don't really teach driver's ed here or at least anything...
