Ahhh. He certainly is a talented and handsome fella.

I told you that gift was pretty inconsequential. I actually didn't see that it doesn't have his last name until I threw it in the envelope. Maybe the other shirts were different. They were just laying on this table at the reception. Which I looked horrid for! My friends were dressed for work and I waltz in wet from the rain, half-baked, three-week-old beard, and chucks that were literally hanging by threads. Then I had to meet the university president and introduce myself as my father's son. "No really, he's my dad, and I went to law school with these guys! I've got suits too. . . ."

Speaking of rain, I hope the shirt didn't smell like wet leather and Parliaments or something. 'Cause I'm pretty sure I used it to mop rain off my car seats after I left my moon roof open that night.

I don't know anyone at Saddle Creek, but my friend who's playing the show knows all those guys. Herr Oberst wrote a song about said friend's band a long time ago: Solid Jackson. One of my favorite band names ever. Speaking of small worlds: There used to be a guy on SG, long gone now, who I was friends with and coincidentally was from Nebraska and also used to play opening gigs for Solid Jackson and others from that scene. ANYWAY, he immediately knew who my friend was, so I introduced them and they started, and ended, a band called Sport of Kings.
