I terminated my account. March 6th and I'm done.

I've been making some new work lately. This work is currently showing at Zygote Press right here in Cleveland, Ohio. I've started using antique paper as a collage element for the background. I probably should have been born in the 1940's, I think I'd fit in better. I've been feeling very nostalgic lately. Enjoy.

By the way these are very large- I'm talking 4 by 5 feet big.

I applied to get this awesome guy, so wish me luck. He's a one year old Dachshund.

I'm accepting suggestions for names right now- so far my favorites are Oliver, Taco and Omlette.

I have a new job. I'm working as an art conservator, specifically in a paper lab. I can mend, preserve, fix or clean anything related to paper. This is the job I've been trying to get for quite a while now and I'm happier than a pig in shit. 2008 had started out the right way so far. Considering how awful last year was I needed this in a major way.

If you live in Cleveland- go to Zygote Press on Friday night (January 18th) because there is a great show and I'm in it. Its called "Camp Out" and features "irreverent, over-the-top, goofball, sentimental & retro-fabulous work". There is also a performance at 7:30 by Alex Katris that promises "7cds, 7 boomboxes, 7 rollerskaters, neon and spandex". How could that possibly be bad? Thats right, it can't.

I've seen some god movies recently and feel compelled to share my recommendations with all of you that care. If you have a chance go see- Juno, There Will Be Blood, No Country For Old Men, Atonement and most of all see Heima! If you like Sigur Ros at all do yourself a favor and check this out. Never heard of them? Then go see this and you'll understand.

I bought myself an early Christmas present. I figured I could just take the money I would have normally spent on my wife and get myself something I really wanted.

It kind of reminds me of a Philip Guston.






I also bought a piece by one of my favorite people Kevin Snipes. This isn't the exact piece, but its close and I'm too lazy to shoot a picture.




Rant-

This year we will be buying gifts for our friends and families and I ask you to support a local artist. Buy something handmade. Do it. Go, I'll wait. That electronic gizmo you plan on getting someone will be obsolete my this time next year, buy them something timeless and precious. Make something yourself if you're broke. Trust me, most people will appreciate it far more than the Superbad dvd. I will only be buying handmade items this year and I encourage you to do the same.
