...and then it hit me.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
Thanks to those of you who sent birthday salutations and wishes my way (especially you exhibitionists! hubba hubba). It was an odd 'celebration' of sorts. I was active as I intended to be but things still didn't work out socially. Saw Kristen Schaal who, of course, was adorably sarcastic. Saturday, went to my first A's game of the year against the dreaded SF Giants (fuuuuck those muddafuckahhhs!) and that was mildly entertaining. On my actual birthday I spent most of it with family, blahblahblahwhatever.

Now for the bad news! The most disappointing moment of the weekend occurred Friday night: after Kristen, I received a random email from a club called Vessel. I've only been there a couple times and definitely never shared my personal info with them, so they weren't aware of my birthday. Anyways, the email informed me that if I got in before 11, no wait, no cover and two free drinks for me and a +1 ...and complimentary bottle service for seven. surreal

The most awesome part of all?
EVERYONE WAS "BUSY".

So yeah... I didn't go. I'm very certain it could have been nothing short of amazing.

Before composing this blog, I was walking around my neighborhood. It's something I have to do lately because I have awfully weird sleeping patterns these days; plus, when my brain's more active than usual, my body gets anxious. As I thought about life while traversing through shadowy parks, my subconscious took me way, way back to simpler times (i.e. high school) and reminded me of a girl named Renee. She was your prototypical Italian: loud, leggy, spouting profanity every fourth word and loved her soccer. Renee was also extremely sentimental and had a deep devotion to those she loved most. The biggest heart.

The memory in particular is pretty comical yet endearing: It was near the end of our senior year. We were hanging out like usual and I casually popped in a breath mint and offered one to her. She took it, and we laid out on the roof talking about everything and nothing. To me, the night was like any other occasion. Fast forward three, four months after graduation and we hang out again. During the middle of the conversation, SHE POPS OUT THAT DAMN BREATH MINT I GAVE HER. For whatever reason she kept it after all those months and explained to me how it reminded her of that night, and especially me. Basically, she spilled the beans about liking me for as long as she had known me. How the smallest things I did were the best, like giving her a sketch every now and then (used to draw a lot) and offering her a mint. No one else outside her family had given her anything, and what little I gave her was more than she ever wanted from me.

It makes me sad because I wish my feelings were mutual.
Odd how things like that pop into your head after so long.

Next week has promise. I have my eye on a Triumph, may start flight lessons for my private pilot's license, and I'll learn whether or not I'll be going to tour CERN in mid August.

I may not be a particle physicist, but damn do I love science! I'm genuinely excited at the idea of spending a week in Switzerland. My scientific credentials aren't sterling or recent for that matter, but we'll see.

Oh yeah, there's also Krav Maga. After briefly discussing it with Paprika, I decided it's time I turn this lump of fat you know into a piece of pig iron that would make the IDF proud.

I've a feeling I'd be that kind of photographer if I shot for SG.

Time for me to give grandpa his meds. bbl.
