I just spent four days in the frozen bowels of the Appalachians and I'm already happy to be home. If anyone ever suggests that you take in the tranquil beauty and majesty of the greater Knoxville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area in the future, you should stab them in the fucking heart.
Now that I'm back in Florida I'm starting to thaw out, but I've certainly realized I don't like the cold as much as I presumed I did. It was somewhere between not feeling my hands after scraping my windshield clean of ice with a CD in my trunk and slipping on ice while carrying hot coffee that ended up down my jacket, that I realized that people who willingly subject themselves to cold when they could live somewhere more acclimate to human nature and survival instincts are out of their goddamned minds.
Still, it was good to see my nephews, and any time away from my job is a good time.
