Two days, two posts! Is this a record. Back home at lunchtime to check on the gas men who are digging up my drive and doing something to the gas meter. Inevitably, it looks like it's going to be a much more complex task than anticipated, and at present the house smells vaguely of gas which is unpleasant. In theory the gas will be back on again by tonight so I can switch the heating on again on what is the coldest day of the year so far.

Latest gas update - it's back on, so I haven't frozen, but there's a massive trench outside my front door that I have to negotiate for the next couple of days.
