MEMBER SINCE: June 2007
occupation: Slave to the Autocracy.
stats: I refuse to be defined quanititatively.
body mods: A single tattoo. Always planning more, but I picky and fickle - bad combo
crush: I fall in love at least once a week.
into: Building Shit, Breaking Shit, Rebuilding Shit, Computers, Electronics, Travel, Getting Lost, Getting Found, Fine Litterature, Not-So-Fine Litterature, B-Movies and People Watching
makes me happy: Girl Guide Cookies (the old fashioned ones), reading flyers, blowing shit up, squirrels, watching assholes get fucked by bad karma, eating bacon and eggs for dinner, the kind of love you only get from pets.
makes me sad: Intollerance, abject poverty, lonely people and the Ottawa Senators (they just keep breaking my heart).
I've been in Victoria for a year now and still haven't unpacked the boxes let alone been able to meet anyone outside of work. The Nomadic Existence is fun for a while, but looses it alure after about a year or so. I actually updated my profile location to Victoria today and it felt kinda cool.
After all my bitching and moaning though the first thing I started planning was a trip to Europe this summer. I guess it's different when it's your own choice and not at the capricious whim of others. I love to travel, but always have trouble getting enough time off consecutively to make it worth going anywhere of note. I figure that 3 weeks is minimum for a decent trip. One of the cruel realities of life is that those who have the time to travel often lack the money and those with the money often lack the time. I've toyed with the idea of taking sabatical for a year or two and just seeing how far I can get on my savings, but I'm too tied up in my job to step back. I think maybe it's time to re-examine the priorities, I got a job to keep from starving, but somehow it turned into a career and sucked all the joy out of the man I wanted to be. <whine, snivel, complain>
This started off as a positive post... maybe next time.
