Well I'm in Vancouver today. Flew in on the floatplane with my friend Lydia and that was fun.. saw my city from the air.

Ran around Vancouver.. visited Scratch Records (not so great) and Zulu Records (great).. bought a few cds. (anyone notice a pattern here?) some Rolling Stones albums I don't have, DJ Spooky, and an Alex Chilton (Big Star)/Alan Vega (Suicide) album that's really good.

Since Lydia got to fly in for free she bought me lunch at Gypsy Rose.. this great place kitty korner to Zulu Records on Fourth Ave. Amazing crepes!! Delicious.. soo delicious.

Caught the train over to my friend Darren's whom I've been hanging with since. Watched the new Star Trek movie (ok), Goldmember (ok), went out drinking beers and vodka shots (great) and as I write this a couple are snoring and Shrek is on (Ok-) in the background so I can't go to sleep yet. So I thought I'd check out the SGs.

Tomorrow I see Yo La Tengo!! Take pictures and the whole bit! Exciting! Then I travel to Winnipeg! Fun fun!

Not much more to say.. eyes want to close. Thanks for all the posters. I do appreciate it.

yes. i do indeed think we have different ideas of what art fags are. just come visit manayunk, or old city on first fridays. then youll get my definition. actually, all you have to do is somehow get to a gallery opening in NYC, preferably chelsea. then you will know.

Yo La Tengo is the band that makes me feel warm inside every time I think about the depressing state of contemporary rock music. That said, be careful around YLT. Given their reputation, you could very well be the recipient of some Sean Penn-style behavior, especially regarding the non-judicious use of flash. Ask them to do Absolutely Sweet Marie, or Take Care, or one of their thousands of brilliant covers.

What is this Chilton/Vega record you speak of? I have this mental blockage when it comes to Chilton after Big Star, like I know there's greatness there, but I just can't be bothered to seek it out. Just the idea of the blue-eyed soul stuff sounds great, but it's a will thing, you know?
