MUSIC I'VE RECENTLY BECOME OBSESSED WITH:
1.
WHITE GUYS JUMPING - an astounding solo indie Folk-Pop act from Mashpee, Massachusetts. White Guys Jumping recently released his 4th (2nd if you asked him awhile ago) full length album called "Outside". "Outside" doesn't share much with the first two WGJ albums... but that's a good thing, because they did suck pretty hard, but are still funny, nonetheless, however! that funny bone is not lost in "Outside", it thrives quite well, and the music's pretty damn good, too. As with the previous (and a bit inferior album), "The Lettuce Tree", this new album has a very slightly more serious theme throughout dealing with... going outside and the joys of it! The other tracks deal with silly life situations and internet antics, as well as poking fun at WGJ's favorite bands. The highlights of the album ARE THE WHOLE FUCKING THING! so DOWNLOAD IT... FOR FREE! From the fat guy that made it! or you could pay 6 bucks... I guess... click on the name to find out!
2.
GNAW THEIR TONGUES - I've had a download of "An Epiphanic Vomiting of Blood" for awhile, but I recently bought the re-release from Crucial Blast Records and, while it blew my mind the first time I listened to it, I REALLY started listening to it when the CD arrived at my house

OH GREAT GODS OF CREATIVITY! What an amazing album! It blends together Funeral Doom Metal, Black Metal, Jazz, Noise, Sound Collage, and Orchestral sounds into one of the most horrifying and mind warping albums I've ever listened to! GET THIS!
3.
THE AXIS OF PERDITION - "Deleted Scenes from the Transition Hospital"... I've had this downloaded for awhile, too... I need to buy it ASAP! this album is based around Silent Hill... and if the band denies it, I won't believe them because "Transition Hospital" can be seen as a direct reference to the Hospital in the game and stuff.. cause...

I need to buy it ASAP! this album is based around Silent Hill... and if the band denies it, I won't believe them because "Transition Hospital" can be seen as a direct reference to the Hospital in the game and stuff.. cause you know, it makes a transition from normal to TOTALLY FUCKED! The album also shows strong influence from the Silent Hill games' soundtracks... except the third game. So! take some Noisy ambient stuff and mix it with already Experimental and Industrial influenced Black Metal, throw some jazz and other outside influence in and you get this masterpiece... and their previous work isn't bad either, though a little less experimental.
4.
Darkwood - another band that I've had some work from for awhile... but recently obtained more of and fell in love all over again. "In the Fields", their first release is a beautiful album from start to finish with some recurring musical and lyrical themes throughout. It's some slightly experimental bits to it.
5.
16Volt - "Fullblackhabit" is a terrific American Coldwave album from a previously not so great American Coldwave band! Certainly they redeemed any blandness they had in the past! This album adds a nice Pop element to the genre more commonly known as "Industrial Rock", "Industrial Metal", and/or "Industrial" (that's another blog, though). The album certainly isn't as mindblowing as 2 and 3 on this list, but it's just as good as 1 and 4

It's a solid and catchy album in a genre that usually isn't very catchy. It's a nice breath of fresh air and hopefully a little kick in the ass for people to bring Coldwave back (yeah, I'm probably the only American Coldwave fanboy you'll ever meet nowadays).
6.
BILE - my favorite band ever! I don't like the number 5 and he is special enough to me that I will not push him to the second of these blogs... I won't go into detail about any particular album... but he recently brought news that R.H. Bear, the only constant member besides KRZTOFF since the beginning of the project, is leaving for ... I forget where, I think the UK... and is also coming out with his own solo album! WOO! I'm excited for it! I'm also excited because KRZTOFF finally gave an excuse for why I've been waiting over two years since "Hate Radio" was announced as "Cumming Soon!"... well, if you go to the band's myspace, you'll see a big ass banner that says the new album is coming out in EARLY 2008... well, we're passed early 2008... he says he's having distribution problems and might just go and release it as a free download. Then a few days later he put another new song up! "World Up Your Ass" comes complete with a glorious cametoe pic of a girl in a Bile thong XD I wouldn't say the song or "Hate Radio" are as good as much of his previous work, but they are interesting in that they have some pretty different main influences. So...
Bile myspazz here
I've got one more thing to whore out!
7.
Invisible Records - Run by Martin Atkins, who played drums on Public Image Ltd's "Flowers of Romance" album... and some other really good albums.... as well one half of the parents of Pigface! um... the label celebrated it's 20th anniversary in February. It celebrated by giving fans a 20 cd for $20 set of old, out of print, and kinda rare cds... well, the deal is back, this time in two forms, the 30 for 30 pack which has a lot of cds from the $3 cd grab bag that also started early this year, and the 30 for $50 pack which has slightly more rare stuff in it! neither one of them shares any items with the original 20 for 20 set!
I'M GETTIN THIS ONE!
I already got most of this through the $3 cd grab bag deal!
