HELP PLEASE! ASAP!
I have a ferret that was found outside in a garden. It must have gotten loose from someones home. I have never owned ferrets so I dont know how to care for it, I need any info that could be important. Right now she is in a large cat carrier, with some cat food(it was the best I could do), a tshirt to lay on, bedding, a water bottle, toilet paper rolls to play with, and bedding. I want to do my best to find the ferrets owners, who Im sure are worried sick right now. And if I cant find them, I may end up either keeping the ferret or taking it to somewhere that could care for it. I need advice on how to handle this situation, and if there is anythign I can do to better care for it while I have it, considering that it hopefully will be returning to its owners and wont be permanently staying with me so I cant go out and buy it too much. Thankyou!

Edit: My aunt just called me and said there was a woman going door to door looking for it! Its a 3 year old childs pet.. I dont think 3 year olds should even have pets.. Im really upset now, These people clearly dont care for her the right way. her nails are VERY long&She seems under weight, she's been loose for a day.. and I have to hand her over to them tonight. frown Ugh..

They are litter boxed train 99.9% of the time. I have 2 and they are very simple to take care of. They can stay in a whole room but they will only poop in corners and clean ups easy, still id stay away from carpet. They will chew and eat plastic and runner which is bad bad bad. It could get stuck in their intestines. If they find a snuggly place to sleep they will stay there. and sometimes they go into a "dead sleep" which means you can almost do anything to them and they wont wake up. dont be scared if that happens, as long as they are breathing they are fine! They are pretty much just like cats, although cat food is a bad idea for a long period. Ferret food is specially made because they need high levels of taurine for their fast metabolism, short intestines and high energy. They get along great with cats as long as they get along great with them. They drink loads of water. Oh, and when they are out they love to play, but they will steal anything they like, which is alot. They have "stash" spots where they will hide anything they find. Its always the same place 99% of the time or unless they get bored and drop it along the way, ferret means thieving weasel after all haha.
Ill let you know if i forget anything and want to mention it!

P.S. I let mine run around my house. They never chew any cords. They do hide under my couch and sleep when they get tired but i usually let them play for an hour or so then put them away, they crash right out.
