We make our plans
Take our dreams by the hand
And walk down the aisle
We say, I do
And commit ourselves to institutions
Call me crazy
Because it wasn’t my dream that I followed into the church
When people say, It hurts me more than you
I hope they ain’t lyin
I feel like I cheated myself out of a future
I need to set my story straight jacketed
And locked up
I swallow my placebo
Hoping this illness can be cured
I make myself sick
Disgusted by the sight of me
I am the bird that flies
Into the skyscraper
Scrape me from windows
Blood streaking down
Jagged and sharp like
Ice sickles
Can you pickle hope
In a jar
Does my skin
Seem cold to you
Take my body temperature
Freeze time
I can’t go on
If it weren’t for these binds
I’d pull out my hair
And claw out my eyes
Do you think I’m dramatic
Sometimes I see ghosts
Of who I was
I see dead people
Walking around my living room
Will I be living soon
Alive and breathing
Free of these walls
Out and open
Healed from this broken state
Why do I wreck myself
When it’s only me that is willing
To make repairs
When people say, Life isn’t fair
I hope they’ve know failure
Because I need to know someone can relate
