Since most of us are trying not to think about New York today, here's a track of the famous early '80s No New York compilation, mixed by Brian Eno. This is "Flip Your Face" by the Contortions, who were, believe it or not, one of the most accessible bands among the NY No Wave crowd.

The Contortions first album "Buy" has the second greatest album cover I've ever seen ("Cut" by The Slits is first, by the way). I never really dug that whole No Wave scene from a musical standpoint, though.
