I was about to launch into a rant about how art is so useless in modern society and was more valued in the past but then I realised that's actually a lie.

Artists of yore were almost all pained and penniless and never appreciated in their time, save the ones who lucked out creating work for the church and then only because its been preserved can we appreciate it now. If anything the time we live in right NOW is the BEST time to be an artist! A combination of social media, web-series, TV, Film, advertising, galleries, illustrated books and web sites a plenty means there's absolutely no excuse to sit on your arse moaning.

For better or worse art has always been an indulgence to most but a necessity to us and, with our tablid culture, artists can sometimes find recognition in their lifetime.

We should rejoice, today is a good day to be an artist!
