Everyone has their own Paris Hilton
Just like the Madden brothers of Good Charlotte, I believe that everyone has their own Paris or Nicole. Let's just examine their situation going by superficial information. These are two boys in a rock band, wearing their alt-threads (and singing about black - stupid song), tattoos all over. They could be you or I.
Then there are Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie. Socialites who have made a living out of being socialites. Adored by many, despised by more because of who they appear to be, yet "more mainstream" than say your Benji or Joel, what with their said appearances. High fashion, partying, dancing, flirting.
On the surface, how could the type of guy who you would assume Paris or Nicole to be with, believe that they are with that type of boy. And vice-versa.
What do you know, something I was taught in uni actually stuck. It's the Lacan theory, in which we want what we lack. We are not a haute couture, partying, dancing, flirting socialites so therefore we want that, in contrast to like-like match with a black-haired, side-fringed, lip-pierced potential companion. My assumption (going off superficial information having no in-depth knowledge of any of these four individuals) is that they tried what they thought was right and eventually found the ying to their yang. And perhaps they're quite happy. This reporter can't believe it could last, however.
I have my own Paris Hilton. She's your typical blonde-haired, high fashion, partying, dancing, flirting young thing. She gets drunk and goes to the club and moves as if she were fucking her dance partner(s). She worries about superficial things like.. her spray tan appointment for the day of the races, her Tony Ferguson diet, and her costume for the all-important Bollywood-themed 21st birthday party of her friend (her outfit, mind you, was far too see-thru, and I told her so, but being "not" her boyfriend, that particular opinion was not valid).
But you know, I totally love her. When...
