Got Fable 2 on Thursday...my first impressions weren't great, but the more I play it, the more I seem to enjoy it. I think I was expecting it to be so similar to the original game, which I've always been a big fan of. When I started playing, it became evident to me that it wasn't the same.
The controls are a little difficult to get used to at first, they aren't very responsive, but you get used to them quickly. I like the way they have designed the Will abilities and Expressions menu. Giving you the option to use your Will ability over a certain area, or at a direct target. And then giving you the option to hold the expression for as long as you want.
I was a little disappointed in the way they have done the "Trading" skills. Seems they only made it to waste time and earn some money, not making it useful really in any way...If you ask me they should have made it so that you could use the skills to create your own weapons, or cut your own augmentations...but that does not seem to be the case.
The addition of the Dog to the game makes things interesting, the Dog will bark whenever it "detects" some treasure (chests, areas where you can dig etc), at first I was a little skeptical, as I though it would make finding chests and dig areas to easy, almost as if they were making it easier to try and target the game more towards kids. But it make things quite fun, giving you the chance to not worry so much about finding every chest or treasure in the games, and allowing you to spend more time exploring the world and concetrating on quests.
There isn't much else I can really say about the game so far, as im not very far into it. I have noticed however that it is alot larger than the first, I mean alot...I finished the first fable in just over 3 hours, Ive bearly dented the second one after playing for 4 hours...
More information as it comes to light...but, on first impressions, Im really quite happy, I think Lionhead have...
