The Fit has been sold in other countries for years, so no worries as to teething problems. The HHR is bigger and has more room, but GM has had a hard time in the past building quality domestic 4-bangers. I haven't driven one of those yet, either.

Another candidate: the Scion XB (looks like the box it came in) - dead reliable and lots of room for something so tiny, handles great but underpowered in a straight line IMHO. Very useful and priced right. Fun to drive with the 5 speed.

The PT cruiser has good room and good power with the turbo motor but the old platform is rather dated now.

Hey, have you tried getting Modest Mouse tickets for the Electric Factory show, by any chance? I just checked on ticketmaster and there don't seem to be any available now :-(
I'm gonna call the venue tomorrow though.

Fits are fun, particularly the Fit Sport with the manual trans.

If getting tickets through other means doesn't work I'd seriously consider going to NY to see them, or going outside the Electric Factory before the show to see if anyone's selling.
