It's a swimming pig. I just can't breathe. How did they get it on the beach? How can it swim? Just how is this possible?

This one is mostly for Reuben_ because I know how much she likes novelty photographs of animals.

actually traditional tattoos for sailors were a pig and a rooster one on the top of each foot. they were two stock animals that were kept on board sailing ships on long voyages. the reason they became widely tattooed by sailors is because they were often the only survivors of ship wrecks. pigs float due to their higher body fat content (why your pig is able to swim in the picture) and roosters would take flight and land on floating debris.

and if you're wondering why they took roosters and not chickens on the ship...the answer is they took both but the chickens were kept in a pen for their eggs while the rooster would be left to roam free so it could visit the multiple pens.
