It's 4:40am and for the (?)th day in a row, I'm probably going to stay up late enough to watch the sun rise. Eh. Sleep is overrated anyway, right?
At least tonight I got out for a change. I went to see a few friends from high school... Liz, Erica, Julie-Ann, Jena and Joe. It's so weird how much everyone hasn't changed. I mean, of course we've all grown up a bit- but in general, the one and a half year increment between high school graduation and the present time hasn't altered much of anything.
But maybe that's the case for everyone. I mean, do we ever really change? I guess some people can say they've changed- but unless you've taken some serious drugs (perscribed or otherwise) to change your brain chemistry, I doubt that an individual could actually alter themselves that much in a lifetime.
Granted, I look back at who I was in high school and see the same person who would have made slightly different decisions if she was who I am now at the time. Another ackward thing about today was going to a local mall for dinner. After the dinner, Joe and I stood at the front entrance of the mall waiting for our friends to return with their car. As I stood there, I watched in awe these 13, 14, 15, 16 year olds who seemed to feel they were 25. I felt so-- old. They were so little and I, standing in my long velvet patch skirt, knitted green beret and 4 inch high brown platform boots, couldn't have felt any less titanic.
Correlating in an unrelated sense, after dinner we gave up on the original plans for bowling and rented movies. The first movie we watched was Death to Smoochy-- I hadn't heard of it before but I'm glad I watched it... the movie was fucking hilarious (not to mention that my *husband*, john stewart is in it. He's so damn sexy.) Anyways...
The related particle of monologue here was that after Death to Smoochy, we watched Quills... staring Kate Winslet (hence the titanic correlation.) God, I love that movie. If I had to pick my all time favorite drama, that would be it. A League of their Own is most def. my fav comedy. I couldn't choose one over the other for top flick... I guess I'd be a better Golden Globes then Academy Awards.
Plegh. I feel really silly for liking the goo goo dolls now. I know this community is meant for punks/goths/etc and the main part of any of those titles is *the music.* Granted, I'll listen to anything, but my list of favorite musicians tends to be limited to what i've heard on tv/the radio and my passionate tastes for all things musical theatre. So... here's your chance to help me out--
Please suggest a band (specific song/album) for me to check out and mention why they're so great. If you have any links to sound files of theirs, feel free to post that info as well. I'll luv ya forever.
