1) The Soviet Union - big fuck off war you might have heard of in those years, even the US was rounding up minoritys at the time (although it didn't exterminate them it could have). Plus the USSR was hardly a representative democracy was it? Dictatorships have a nasty habit of killing people whether people have guns or not.
2) Nazi Germany - yeah, they were rounded up because they couldn't defend themselves. Screw that fact that at about 50% of those people were from conquered countries. Also most of the stuff about the USSR applies as well.
3) Guatemala- Dunno about this.
4) Uganda - Idi Amin was a a pschyopath. Plus in under a year he rounded up all the guns in the country and then turnedround and massacred all the christians. Isn't there a fair possibility that they were either still armed and it didn't do them any good because the other side was more organised then they were?
5) Cambodia - FFS the Khmer Rouge!!!!!!! They were on a mission to make Hitler look friendly. Plus theres a 20 year gap in the space between the laws being passed and the Khmer Rouge coming to power. In that 20 years they managed to squeeze in a civil war. I think there was a fair chance that people could have got their hands on guns during a civil war.
How any of it has any relevance to the current debate (or slanging match as iy usually is) is beyond me.
Guns make it very easy for people to kill one another. Thats why they were designed and thats why armed forces use them. They are very efficient at killing people.
People with guns scare the shit out of me.
