*Whew* I made it home safely.

Saturday after work I had to drive (like a mad woman because I was running super late) to DC to film a show. Found the place OK, after making several, 'am I on the right street' calls to my friend Miguel who was opening up the show. I made it-took me forever to find parking-and it was buttfreezing cold so of course I had to walk far. Damnit. But, the place was sweet. Smallish club. Intimate. And I had plenty of room to set up my camera on a tripod without fear that it would be knocked over. Or stolen. None of my stuff got stolen (yippie)! I took tons of pictures and taped most of the show. I've decided I want to tape a piece of amber-colored tissue paper over the flash on my camera because I want to use the flash, but it's too bright. If I don't use the flash, the camera takes too long to take the picture and when filming musicians, they move around a lot and come out looking transparent in the pictures. Grrr. And if I DO use the flash, the light is so ugly and artificial they end up looking so bright, airplanes could use them as spots to land. I didn't get paid (which sucks). I really need to start getting at least a little something. And I've got to look into copyrighting if people are gonna take my footage and use it in other projects for their label's. I don't mind. I just want my cred. Filming Cex was rad. He must be a gemini. He can either be all loud and cocky spittin' rhymes at your face as harsh as a doberman's bite, or he can be quiet, reserved, the master mad scientists of the knob-tweekers. The second is what I witnessed this time around. Which was awesome for me. He basically sat on the front of the stage with all his equipment on the floor and played 2 songs that lasted about 20-25 minutes each with a spoken word type interlude between. So, I sat on the stage with him. The way I was angled with how he was sort of hiding behind his equipment with the digital effect I shot with made me feel like I was filming a storyteller at a children's camp, telling a spooky ghost story at the campfire. When it was over and I looked up from my viewfinder, half the crowd was seated on the floor in front of the stage. He had mezmorized us. And it was rad. biggrin

Then there was the drive home. Had I left the club when it was over and driven all the way home, I would have been home and in bed before we even BEGAN to leave DC. And when that finally did occur after the expected afterparty in Georgetown, it started to fucking snow. I hate driving. I hate driving at night. I hate driving in DC, at night, IN THE FUCKING SNOW. The girl I was following got lost. My co-pilot fell asleep. And the snow came fast. Almost as fast as the girl I was following drove. So I fishtailed. LIKE MAD. I thought I was going to die. My co-pilot awoke to me screaming and us flying all over the HIGHWAY. I managed to keep the car from spinning thank god, but was so shaken from the event, my face was glued to the windshield the whole rest of the way back. I made my co-pilot stay awake after that to direct me to the house we were staying at.

Geez.

On a lighter note...Return of the King is only 3 days away!!!!! And I already got tickets for it! Whooooo hoooooooo!!!!

And on an even LIGHTER note....I got another job!!! My second job only gave me 2 shifts this whole MONTH! WTF? So I said fuck it. I'll go elsewhere. My new job is literally across the street from the record store. So fucking sweet. I can go straight from one to the other and only be off the clock for, 2 minutes between. YES!!!!!!!!
