It's odd, I'm in the process of starting a non profit, and the biggest hurdle I am having to over come is raising money for the filing fees. It's incredible how freaking difficult it is to ask for a donation and to be honest with them in saying that, right now it's not a write off, but once we are approved, it will be, they almost always say, "well, nows not really a good time, come back when you have the tax exempt status." Even in helping others, people are selfish.
