I haven't written a blog entry on here yet, and it's about time I did. Not least because it's stopping me get into a couple of groups I'm interested in. Also maybe, just maybe, someone on here might be interested in reading something about me. My name's Dan. My screen name is just made from my real name. Dante = Dan Tessier. The' 84' is just my year of birth, because plain old Dante was taken.
I actually have my own blog, out in the greater Internet. If you're interested, it can be found at
danieltessier.blogspot.co.uk. It's not usually a personal journal type thing though. It's mostly me commenting on and reviewing the stuff I'm into, and about 90% of it covers
Star Trek or
Doctor Who. Because, yes, I'm a massive geek. In the past I've put the occasional piece up about my personal life, and they haven't really garnered much interest, but people do seem interested in my geekery, so that's OK.
Just to prove my geek credentials, were any more proof needed, here's me as the fifth Doctor:

This was taken a couple of years ago, for a quiz I go to sometimes in Brighton, called the Geekest Link. We won that night, but only due to extra points for costume (I was accompanied by the 2nd, 3rd, 9th and 10th Doctors).
So, yeah, I like to write. I'm working on some fiction right now, some of it's fanfic, some is original. I'm struggling a bit with it though. My creative brain has gone a bit useless lately. Reviews are easier. I'm the sort of person who gets annoyed if people use 'your' when they mean 'you're' and 'it's' when they mean 'its.' I get very angry when I'm the one making those mistakes. I watch a lot of telly, often with my critical head on, and quite a bit of what I like to watch was made before I was born. Lots of people are into vintage music and movies, but TV seems to get overlooked somewhat.
I'm a bisexual...

I'm a bisexual Englishman, rapidly approaching thirty. Actually, I'm more into girls than guys, but if I need a word to describe that, then bisexual is the best available. It would be easier if we stopped worrying about labels like that, I feel. You like who you like. I'm not a highly fancied person, which does get me down sometimes. My self confidence isn't great. Still, while I haven't been with very many people, I think the quality, and variety, of partners was pretty good.

Which is something.
I love to travel, although I haven't really got the money to do much of that these days. I've visited (thinks hard): France, Belgium, Spain, Denmark, Malta, Croatia, Macedonia (FYROM), Massachusetts, South Africa, Tanzania, Australia (NSW and NT), New Zealand (South), Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and, very briefly, Laos. Which isn't bad. I want to visit all the continents at least once, and only need to do South America and Antarctica to achieve that. Antarctica will probably be the tricky one.
I also have a pet lizard. He is a New Caledonian crested gecko (
Rhacodactylus ciliatus, becuase I like to know the scientific names for things). His name is Gremlin.

I have clinical depression, so you might find me posting in that group. I'm always happy to talk to people about how things feel for me, and for them, and how I get through the day. It's been a bit tougher lately, but I'm carrying on OK. Unlike some people on here, I have no real reason to be depressed, so there won't be a story later on the terrible hand life dealt me. It didn't. I've had it pretty easy. The depression is something that's gone wrong in my brain.
On the plus side, I have been declared sane, and how many people can say that?
