I guess updating this thing wouldn't be a bad idea since it is late and I don't want to sleep quite yet.

"So what's new?" you might be asking. "I thought you no longer loved us here and had move on to a younger more emotionally available website" I hear you thinking to yourself. I have been without reliable Internet access for the past weeks and I am only able to access the site through my iPod which is leeching wireless from a neighbor. That's right, this entire post is being typed on an iPod. I am that crazy. Speaking of neighbors I have been settling into my new Seattle apartment for the past two weeks. It is quite nice, even if we are lacking in furniture.

Because I have yet to find steady employment in this economy I have had lots of time to think. Mostly I am realizing I need stuff to do other than sleep, eat, and play video games. So I shifted focus to my love life and realized that I am at the point where I am okay with loneliness for now, rather than the all too typical lonely therefore desparate. I have a friend in that stage and it is partly due to some correctable character flaws.

This is where my epiphany came, and what sparked this post. My friend is the typical geek that can't separate his own identity from that geek identity. Anyway, I realized that his problem wasn't geekiness because I and several of my friends are really geeky and still do alright with the women folk. So I came up with this piece of advice for him. Treat your geekiness like you treat your porn. You can have it and enjoy it, but women don't need the details. Unless they also express an interest, which is the ideal, but not requisite situation, keep it out of the spotlight. I know there are plenty of geek lovers out there, but unless you all start wearing funny hats to distinguish yourselves, it is best to work based on how to interact with the majority.
