I just got off the phone with a friend of mine from high school whom I have not seen since I graduated. She had a rough start after H.S. and has been able to fight her way through a lot of bullshit to get where she is today. I was really looking forward to seeing her when she was in town this weekend, but it didn't work out.
I am surprisingly bummed. I haven't seen her in twenty years, why should I care now? It's not like we dated or had some kind of special bond. I guess she is the kind of person who you can tell instantly is a natural leader, and with all she has been through, I want to know that she is still just as strong as she was back then.
I'll see her the next time she is in town. Here's hoping she passes the bar this summer.
