Hello there and back again.
In Germany the proposal was made to send kids in shops in order to find the black sheeps selling the minors alcohol, cigarettes and mature videogames or movies. Of course those kids shouldn't get paid or anything, but this is not the point.
From my experience, it's mostly the parents or the grandparents, who give the kids excess to unapt media, because they don't know anything about. And mainly, if a salesman smells inexperienced customers, they fuck them over for their own benefit.
Examples?
It was around christmas time, I was in the department store to look out some new games. Tere was an elderly couple, who wanted to buy a present for their grandson.
Salesman:"You need to buy him the PlayStation. It's the best gamingsystem." (Yeah, it's been a while)
Grandma:" How does it work? How can he play with it?"
SM:" You put in gamecd's."
GM:" Good, we'll buy one, too. Can you recommened a game?"
SM:" Mortal Kombat."
This is, when I joined the dialogue.
Me:" How old is your grandson?"
GM:" Oh, he got 6 last month."
Me:" And do you think a game in which you can decapitate your opponent is the right one for him?"
The salesman didn't ask for the age. Because he would have gotten more extra money, if he sold MK.

Next example, earlier this year. Same store (under new management):
A mom wants to buy a game for her son. She even tells the salesman that her son is in elemantary school. And what tries the guy? He tries to sell her GTA. Hello? Am I missing something? Since when is GTA a game for really young minors?

You can say, ok, this are single incidents. But it doesn't happen in the videogames department only.
Last month, a friend of mine goes to the same store (they should do something about their employees, right?)
goes to the pc department to buy a laptop. She got no clue about pcs. The next day, she walked up to me and said, she bought a MacBook. And the salesman was so nice to advice her to buy Vista, too. After a really, really, really good laughter, I told her, he deceived her.
Two weeks later, my dad went there to get new ink cartridges. When he came back, the gave him the wrong ones. At least, they got the brand right. And my dad asked a salesman for help to get the right ones.

I think, the best way, to keep kids from that kind of stuff, they should get better salesmen and women. Prohiting and demonizing games is not the right way. Inform the parents. Tell them, the "M" on the package is not for "Monkeys" (to understand that one, look at pennyarcade).
